beta#7


This is the seventh installment of the Small And Big Betas. In this beta, the main thing is the new, third level. There is a lot of stuff in the third level, and this devlog will detail it here. First, for the theme, I went with a hell/underground theme, to go with that, I got the second level's music and pitched it down a couple fold. I also remade the first enemy for this level, adding small devil horns. To build the level, I decided to try out the tilemap system for unity, it worked well, except for the hitboxes which I had to do by hand. I added a bigger devil that transports you across a lava lake(the lava lake is just a retextured spike array).  The biggest thing I added is a hidden enemy, he looks like he is part of the floor, although offset by a tiny amount, but on contact with the player, he wakes up. He becomes hostile after 2 seconds and will follow you around until he is blocked by walls. I made the ending extremely confined and claustrophobic, that way there is a real contrast between the start and the end. All in all, this was a successful Beta which took me a bit longer to post than usual.
